The building has a lot of character, showing off its vintage charm with a wood interior. I really liked the spacious second-floor room that included a small kitchen area, complete with tea, coffee, a microwave, and a small fridge.
The bedding in the room could use some serious replacements-stains and holes aren't what you'd hope for. The shower head is set far too low for comfort, and I found black mold around the shower base. Plus, it leaked. The TVs were outdated, and not in a cool retro way. If you've got expectations for an updated stay, lower them.

The charming wooden interior adds character, but noise from the busy highway disrupted my sleep.

The hotel provided reasonable prices. I stayed in budget, large room with a bunk bed and WiFi, for example. The staff were brilliantly helpful and were always there to help. The location was comfy, for example, a public museum was a 10-15 minute walk from the property.

The stay was convenient for exploring Dunedin, being close to many key attractions like the University of Otago and Forsyth Barr Stadium. I particularly enjoyed the character of the building, especially the period dining room and a cozy lounge that made relaxing enjoyable. Parking right across the hotel made getting around a breeze, and despite a few minor issues, I found the stay to be quite pleasant overall.

I like that when we arrived we were given a drink voucher to use and were able to have anything we liked - that was a very nice touch. We also were able to store our bags while we went on a day trip and came back to the hotel and could wait upstairs in the lounge before my friend arrived to pick us up, that made all the difference and we were able to relax. The meals are good at the Leviathan Hotel and very reasonably priced so I would recommend this hotel in the future to anyone who needed to stay near to the city and also another benefit is that you are within walking distance of the Cadbury factory - which is a must when you are in Dunedin.

there was nothing I liked about my stay at the Leviathan hotel, the hotel is very out dated, but the locastion is perfect.
the noises that start at 5am every morning from the lorry drivers that stay there, that continue until 6.30am,mainly due to the single glazing in the windows, the very outdated decor,

Well, its just a too simple hotel, old building. i live for 9 nights and no one come to clean my room and tidy my beds, which is very poor on service. I didn't try their food, so hard to say. but its located in the center of Dunedin city with 24/7 check in counter, which is not too bad. i will give a 3 out of 10 for all.

great location but a bit noisy at times
The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the main attractions. Parking was easily available . I appreciated the friendly night front desk agent who was always willing to help. The dorm room had good wifi, and the included breakfast was a nice touch.
Some noise from other guests during the night affected my sleep a bit.

Close to all amenities. Retained the sens of history in the architecture. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
The manner of the young person on the bar was a bit cavalier and distracted like she did not want to be there.
